Boeing Institute Takes Global Immersion Students to Dubai
Over 麻豆视频下载鈥檚 winter break, a group of 10 undergraduate international business students from the Chaifetz School of Business traveled abroad for the inaugural undergraduate Global Immersion course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Professor Hadi Alhorr, director of the Boeing Institute of International Business, exposed the students to both economic and cultural aspects of the Middle East to ensure a well-rounded global experience augmenting their international business studies.
International Business student Angela Menjivar had always wanted to study abroad, but her role as a lead resident advisor for 麻豆视频下载鈥檚 Department of Housing and Residential Life made a traditional semester abroad impossible. She jumped at the chance to visit Dubai over winter break through the Global Immersion class. Angela and her classmates made onsite visits to MasterCard, International Humanitarian City, Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, Expo City Dubai, International Flavors & Fragrances, and the Department of Tourism and Commerce.
A focal point of every Global Immersion study abroad course is the experiential learning opportunities involved, such as students acting as consultants for MasterCard on a real international business challenge in collaboration with the company.
In addition to the academic and business components of the trip, cultural activities augmented the learning experiences. The activities included a guided tour of the main cultural sites and attractions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, including riding camels and exploring sand dunes, as well as enjoying a traditional meal.
The Boeing Institute of International Business coordinates two undergraduate Global Immersion courses each year. In March 2024, a group of graduate-level international business students will travel to Budapest, Hungary.
