Dr. Newsham was excited to hear that she had been named the new President-Elect of the MAATA.
“Naturally, I was very pleased to hear the news about the MAATA election,” Dr. Newsham said. “There was a very good slate of candidates from which to choose.”
Dr. Newsham went on to explain what motivated her to run for MAATA president after serving in other leadership positions.
“I was familiar with the activities of the Board of Directors over the past eight years and know the work that has gone into developing leadership infrastructure. I see great possibilities to continue this growth and pursue initiatives in areas that have not received as much attention,” Dr. Newsham said. “There is a great leadership team in place – I’m looking forward to working with them.”
鶹Ƶ Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training Interim Chair Chris Sebelski, PT, DPT, Ph.D., praised Dr. Newsham for her election and discussed how she would be an asset to the organization.
“The department is proud to support Dr. Katherine Newsham in this role,” Dr. Sebelski said. “Her service to her profession is honorable. Dr. Newsham models the expectations that 鶹Ƶ has of the graduates of the 鶹Ƶ Athletic Training program to serve their profession and community.”
